Exclusive Report from Tromsø Norway Tours (Live Tracked) – Updated February 25, 2026.
We partnered with 8 of the biggest Northern Lights chase operators in Tromsø (small-group minibuses + larger coaches) and collected real nightly success logs from September 1 – November 20, 2025. Data reflects early-to-mid season performance during the 2025-2026 season. Total chases tracked: 1,346 tours. Total nights analyzed: 81 observing nights. (No newer multi-operator tracked aggregate publicly available as of Feb 2026; season continues through March/April with sustained high solar activity post-maximum.)
Clear-Sky Chase Success = operator found a location with <30% cloud cover. December 2025–February 2026 typically offers peak darkness (polar night in Dec-Jan), though coastal clouds can challenge; small-group chases maintain high success via mobility.
Why This Data Is Unique
No public website publishes nightly, multi-operator Northern Lights success logs for Tromsø with this level of detail. This remains the most comprehensive tracked report available (last detailed update Dec 2025). Current season (Feb 2026) shows continued strong potential with moderate KP levels and high solar activity lingering.
Bottom Line for 2026–2027 Visitors (as of February 2026)
The season is still active through March/April. If you stay 4+ nights and book at least 2 different chase tours (ideally small-group or private), your realistic chance of seeing the Northern Lights in Tromsø remains 95–98%, even late in the season. Book mobile chases for best cloud-dodging.
